The Paper Sons @ Café du Nord!
Sunday June 15th.
Do you hear it? That sound?
It’s the sound of connection, and timing. You hear it in the first few beats of the drum, and as the guitar rushes to your ear you realize just how solid it is. It’s the sound of The PaperSons, four extremely talented guys from the Bay Area playing rhythmically driven alternative rock illustrated with beautiful, open harmonies. Their sound has been compared to such bands as Cursive, Queens of the Stone Age and Thrice, with a personal nod to Sparta.
Borne from the ashes of the group’s freshman band, Midnight in a Perfect World, The PaperSons are the end result of one very important member change and some serious soul searching. The founding members are guitarist Phil Pristia, bassist Fran Dickinson, and Dennis Rodriguez on Drums. The newest addition to the lineup is Tom McCullough whose voice, with its earnest, almost pleading quality, smoothes out the driving edge of the music.
The songs immediately reel you in, and it only takes a moment to realize that this group creates and performs great music together. And their audience is catching on quick. During their second show they sold every copy of their self-produced demo, and feeling this as the shape of things to come, the PaperSons plan to release an EP towards the end of 2007. In the meantime, they continue to secure gigs at premiere venues in and around San Francisco. As the crowds are growing larger with each show, you will definitely want to secure your spot near the front of the stage.
